The Role: Finesse Technician

Lucid Motors Middle East is seeking a Finesse Technician to join our full-time team in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is responsible for the final inspection and surface correction of painted vehicle bodies after the clearcoat process. The Finesse Technician ensures all vehicles meet OEM appearance standards before release to assembly, playing a critical role in achieving first-pass yield, customer-visible quality, and final paint appearance excellence.

Core Responsibilities: Inspection and Surface Correction

• Perform detailed visual inspections of painted vehicle bodies under defined lighting conditions.
• Identify and classify defects such as dust nibs, sags, thin paint, orange peel, scratches, and craters.
• Mark repair areas according to standard procedures.
• Execute spot sanding, polishing, and buffing operations using approved abrasives, compounds, pads, and tools.
• Ensure defect removal without damaging surrounding paint, causing gloss variation, or creating edge burn-through.
• Rework only within defined repair limits and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring repaired areas are visually indistinguishable from the original finish.
• Escalate defects beyond repair capability to the Team Leader or Quality department.

Quality Assurance and Production Support

• Support appearance audits and quality checks, striving for zero repeat defects and minimized rework cycle time.
• Maintain accurate records of all repairs performed.
• Achieve assigned takt time and repair targets, adhering to standard work instructions and repair matrices.
• Participate in shift handovers, production communication, and continuous improvement (CI) activities and defect-reduction initiatives.

Safety and Workplace Standards

• Follow all safety procedures related to polishing, sanding, and tool operation.
• Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, masks, eye protection, and hearing protection.
• Handle polishing materials and chemicals according to established safety guidelines.
• Ensure proper use and care of polishing machines, sanding tools, and accessories, inspecting them before use and reporting any abnormalities or damage.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations and support 5S activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the automotive manufacturing sector.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed visual inspections and identify various paint film issues.
• Proficiency in surface correction techniques including spot sanding, polishing, and buffing.
• Strong adherence to safety protocols and quality requirements in a production environment.
