About the Engineering Director Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to oversee property maintenance for multiple buildings in Medina. This full-time role requires a strong understanding of property maintenance, safety, security, and asset protection. The successful candidate will manage budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation initiatives, ensuring all operations meet or exceed guest and employee expectations while maximizing financial performance and adhering to standards and regulatory requirements. This position also involves leading the emergency response team for all facility-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Develop and manage engineering operating budgets and strategies aligned with property and brand business objectives.
• Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans for all assigned units.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations, and maintain current property life safety systems, licenses, permits, and certifications.
• Manage controllable expenses, including payroll, utilities, supplies, and vendor contracts, to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Participate in the development of capital expenditure goals and manage related projects.
• Ensure fair and consistent administration of property policies and disciplinary procedures.
• Foster regular communication within the engineering operation to align with daily activities, expectations, and business objectives.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major, coupled with 4 years of relevant experience and technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing, will be considered. The required experience level for this role is between 5-10 years.

Leadership and Human Resources

This role involves coaching and supporting the engineering leadership team to effectively manage expenses and achieve departmental goals. It requires maintaining open communication channels to address employee concerns promptly and celebrating team successes. The Engineering Director is responsible for resolving guest problems and complaints and ensuring employees are treated fairly and equitably, with disciplinary procedures documented according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures.
