Job Description

About the Role

Le Meridien is seeking a Dir-Sales & Marketing-C to lead the property's sales department in Medina. This full-time role is responsible for managing both reactive and proactive sales efforts, providing daily leadership to sales associates, and achieving property sales objectives and revenue goals. The Director will focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships and implementing brand service strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of strategic account plans for demand generators in the market.
  • Determine and develop marketing communication activities in conjunction with Regional Marketing Communications.
  • Provide customer intelligence by evaluating market and economic trends to adjust sales strategies.
  • Review STAR reports and competitive shopping reports to maintain awareness of the hotel’s market position.
  • Research competitor sales team strategies to identify opportunities for occupancy and RevPAR growth.
  • Attend sales strategy meetings to provide input on weekly and overall sales strategy.
  • Suggest innovative marketing ideas and develop deployment strategies to grow market share.
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for the General Manager, property leadership team, Group Sales, Area Sales leaders, and customers.
  • Participate in sales calls with the Sales and Marketing team to acquire and close business.
  • Identify public relations opportunities and coordinate activities to enhance the overall marketing communication strategy.
  • Execute and support Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and hotel’s Brand Standards.
  • Implement a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales, ensuring high levels of service.
  • Manage the marketing budget for property-specific campaigns, promotions, and collateral.

Relationship Management

  • Develop strong partnerships with local organizations to increase brand and product awareness.
  • Manage internal key stakeholder relationships.
  • Cultivate strong community and public relations through property participation in local, regional, and national tradeshows and client events.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate features and services.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead the property’s sales department, particularly for properties with bookings over 300 peak rooms and significant local catering revenue.
  • Develop sales goals and strategies, ensuring alignment with the brand business strategy.
  • Coach leaders of revenue-generating departments in developing effective revenue strategies.
  • Ensure the Sales team understands and leverages Marriott International demand engines.
  • Partner with Human Resources to attract, develop, and retain talent, supporting strategic priorities.
  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the Leadership Performance Process (LPP).
  • Forecast talent needs and manage talent acquisition strategy with HR.
  • Identify, train, and mentor group sales associates, utilizing available on-the-job training tools.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, with 2 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
  • Preferred qualifications include: a 4-year college degree, demonstrated skills in supervising a team, lodging sales experience, and hotel industry work experience showing progressive career growth and exceptional performance.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Medina, requiring 2-5 years of experience. The role involves leading a sales department within a dynamic hotel environment, focusing on achieving booking goals and property revenues.
