ACCOUNTING & TAX Unit Head

About the Role

AlBalad AlAmeen for Development and Urban Regeneration is seeking an ACCOUNTING & TAX Unit Head to join their team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to managing the company's accounting operations and ensuring compliance with statutory tax and Zakat requirements. The Unit Head will oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, and lead a team, contributing to the financial integrity and governance of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The ACCOUNTING & TAX Unit Head will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties across accounting, tax, audit, and managerial functions:

• Manage and supervise daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury activities.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, reviewing journals, reconciliations, accruals, and provisions.
• Review complex IFRS accounting entries, including revenue and cost recognition, loan interest accruals, and management fee amortization.
• Prepare standalone and consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage all Zakat and tax matters, including assessments, audits, and correspondence with ZATCA and other authorities.
• Ensure accurate Zakat, VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Real Estate Transaction Tax (RETT) treatment and timely submission of returns.
• Monitor E-Invoicing compliance and manage VAT refund processes.
• Coordinate with external and internal auditors, providing necessary documentation and responses.
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff, allocating responsibilities and monitoring performance against deadlines.
• Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation in accounting and tax activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess a strong background in accounting and tax compliance, with proven leadership capabilities.

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in accounting and tax management.
• Demonstrated expertise in IFRS accounting entries, financial statement preparation, and consolidation.
• In-depth knowledge of Saudi tax regulations, including Zakat, VAT, WHT, RETT, and ZATCA requirements.
• Experience coordinating with external and internal auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
• Strong analytical skills for financial statement analysis and risk assessment.

• Ability to manage and supervise accounting staff effectively.
• Proficiency in financial and tax reporting.
• Strong organizational skills to manage closing, reporting, and tax compliance calendars.
• Capability to identify and mitigate accounting, tax, and control risks.

Work Environment and Type

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within the Finance department, collaborating with various internal teams and external parties to ensure robust financial and tax governance.
