Senior Chiller Technician

About the Role

Carrier (KSA), a leading worldwide provider of HVAC, refrigeration, fire, security, and cold chain solutions, is seeking a Senior Chiller Technician to join its team in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves supporting the installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of HVAC and chiller equipment, ensuring compliance with Carrier standards, manufacturer guidelines, quality requirements, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete assigned service, maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks within required timeframes and quality standards.
• Perform daily tasks according to standard processes, work instructions, and directions, including daily timesheet completion.
• Inspect HVAC and chiller equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment based on industry practices and manufacturer recommendations.
• Repair or replace damaged or defective components as needed.
• Adjust and maintain electrical and electronic control systems.
• Conduct maintenance activities such as coil and blower cleaning, motor inspection, and checking belt condition and tension.
• Support troubleshooting and maintenance of DX and airside equipment, reciprocating chillers, screw chillers, and scroll chillers.
• Prepare estimates for labor hours, materials, parts, and tools.
• Generate accurate inspection reports detailing site conditions, scope of work, findings, and technical recommendations.
• Complete Job Completion Certificates, Job Cards, EH&S site surveys, maintenance records, and other required service documentation.
• Inform customers of work progress upon arrival and before leaving the site.
• Communicate outstanding issues, risks, and recommended improvements to customers and supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area after each task.
• Work independently and exercise sound technical judgment when direct supervision is absent.
• Identify situations requiring escalation and seek guidance or support from a Supervisor or Manager.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues as part of an integrated team.
• Recognize safety hazards in HVAC operations and implement controls for safe work execution.
• Identify and manage potential risks and hazards associated with all work activities.
• Safely rig and set up gantries and lifting arrangements for HVAC equipment and support activities like pump and chiller overhauls.
• Manage and organize machinery and tools, including pickup, delivery, usage, and inventory.
• Participate in EH&S and technical training sessions and meetings.
• Utilize computers, mobile devices, and relevant applications for work orders, reporting, communication, and documentation.
• Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly chillers, and be customer-oriented.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate will have practical understanding and knowledge of:

• HVAC equipment maintenance and repair principles and practices, adhering to industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.
• HVAC safety practices and procedures for installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing.
• Safety documentation, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS).
• Proper utilization, handling, care, and management of tools and equipment.
• Inspection and technical report preparation.
• Quality management practices in accordance with company requirements and applicable quality standards.
• Basic electrical systems and controls.
• Basic building automation and controls.
• Basic metal sheet/fabrication, carpentry, and related maintenance activities.
• Safe lifting and rigging practices for HVAC equipment.
• Basic computer skills and the use of mobile applications for field service activities.

Preferred Product Knowledge

Hands-on knowledge or experience with the following equipment is preferred:

• DX and airside equipment
• Reciprocating chillers
• Screw chillers
• Scroll chillers

Work Environment

This role requires working both independently and collaboratively within a team. The position is full-time in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
