The Role of Senior Structural Engineer

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its team in Neom, Al Jawf, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing contractual leadership across a major program and managing all structural engineering aspects from detailed design through project completion. The Senior Structural Engineer will ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements for various structure types, including concrete, precast elements, steel, composite structures, and infrastructure. The position also requires reviewing and analyzing design reports, drawings, and calculations, as well as providing technical solutions and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate structural and infrastructure designs, including calculations, models, drawings, shop drawings, and technical reports, to ensure safety, durability, and compliance.
• Assess structural analysis outputs using engineering software such as SAP2000, SAFE, and ETABS.
• Review and approve material mix designs for concrete, asphalt, and other structural and infrastructure materials.
• Evaluate material testing reports for concrete, reinforcement steel, structural steel, asphalt, and backfill materials to verify quality and compliance.
• Review geotechnical and soil investigation reports to support design validation and construction decisions.
• Provide technical support and problem-solving, including responding to contractor queries and evaluating structural modifications for site conditions.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and local/international codes and regulations.
• Lead technical coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders to resolve engineering issues and review submissions.
• Coordinate and mentor engineering teams, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary disciplines and guiding junior staff.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution, communicating technical requirements effectively and delivering practical engineering solutions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency in design software and digital 3D modeling (*, Autodesk/Plant 3D, Aveva E3D).
• Experience in project and commercial scope management, change control, vendor management, technical bid evaluation, and cost and risk awareness.
• Demonstrated leadership, analytical thinking, decision-making under uncertainty, communication, stakeholder management, and a mentoring mindset.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite position. Employees are expected to attend a Jacobs workplace as required by the nature of their role.
