The AI Centre of Excellence

The AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) functions as PwC's central engine for AI strategy, product development, and scaling initiatives. Operating within Internal Firm Services, the AI CoE governs standards, manages cost and risk controls, and runs AI Factory squads to design and deliver custom AI solutions and reusable frameworks, including LLM and RAG stacks integrated on Azure. It also provides technical consultation on architecture, solution design, and best practices, while driving workforce transformation through training and upskilling to accelerate AI adoption across our lines of service. The CoE partners with Experience Design and adjacent technology teams, following a codified operating model for approvals and observability.

The Role: AI Frontend Engineer Associate

PwC Middle East is seeking an AI Frontend Engineer Associate to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience in frontend engineering. As an AI Frontend Engineer, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to build the user experiences that bring our AI products to life, from strategy to execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop production-grade single-page applications using React/****, TypeScript, and modern state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
• Implement components aligned with our design system, contributing to tokens, theming, and right-to-left (RTL) support for Arabic interfaces.
• Integrate with AI backends via REST, GraphQL, and WebSocket protocols for chat, retrieval, and agent actions, managing streaming tokens and long-running tasks.
• Implement authentication flows, role-based access controls, and secure front-end patterns, including OAuth/OIDC, token refresh, and mitigations for CSRF/clickjacking.
• Contribute to quality assurance through unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools like Jest, Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Optimize application performance through techniques such as code splitting, memoization, and lazy loading, and instrument UX telemetry (*, Web Vitals) for data-driven iteration.
• Participate in CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, including release trains, feature flags, and canary rollouts.
• Collaborate with UX teams to conduct usability tests and iterate on designs, providing engineering feedback to enhance feasibility and performance.
• Document front-end patterns and component APIs, and engage in code reviews to maintain high quality standards.
• Continuously develop skills and stay current with emerging front-end and AI tools and technologies.

Technical Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of experience in frontend engineering, specifically with a strong background in building single-page applications. Proficiency in React/****, TypeScript, and modern state management is essential. Experience with integrating AI backends over REST, GraphQL, and WebSocket, implementing secure authentication patterns (OAuth/OIDC), and contributing to robust testing (Jest, Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress) and CI/CD practices (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) is required. The ability to optimize performance, instrument UX telemetry, and contribute to design system components, including RTL support, is also expected.
