About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a Construction Engineer – Civil (Operations) to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing and executing civil construction activities to ensure projects meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality standards. The role acts as a crucial link between design, project management, and site execution teams to drive operational efficiency and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and execute civil construction works according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate daily site activities with project management, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor site progress, productivity, and resource utilization, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to method statements, shop drawings, and approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies on-site, ensuring safe working practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and escalate risks, delays, and technical issues for timely resolution.
  • Verify completed work quantities and support progress measurement and billing processes.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to scope and timelines.
  • Optimize the use of manpower, materials, and equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Coordinate material delivery, approvals, inspections, and site storage.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports and maintain site documentation.
  • Review and report on actual versus planned progress, highlighting deviations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site teams, resolving design-related issues.
  • Ensure the implementation of approved shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and technical submittals.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and sequencing of construction activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide operational updates.
  • Ensure timely closure of snag lists and punch items.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
  • Maintain compliance with local regulations, authority requirements, and company standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience is required.

Technical Skills and Proficiencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Understanding of ERP systems concepts with practical experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel for design interpretation and reporting.
  • Technical background in construction management tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering standards and the ability to apply technical requirements in a site environment.

Language and Communication

A good command of spoken and written English is essential for effective communication and reporting within the project team and with stakeholders.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh.
