Cost Estimator / Estimation Engineer

About the Role

Hire Fellows is seeking a Cost Estimator / Estimation Engineer to join a fast-growing company specializing in signages, branding, events, exhibitions, fabrication, and interior fit-out. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview

The Cost Estimator / Estimation Engineer will be responsible for developing accurate and detailed project cost estimates by reviewing drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, and project requirements. This role involves close collaboration with the Sales, Design, Production, Procurement, and Project Teams to ensure projects are accurately priced and commercially viable. It is a hands-on estimation role suited for professionals with experience in costing, quantity take-offs, materials, fabrication, and project pricing, particularly within the events, exhibitions, signage, advertising, or fit-out industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, BOQs, specifications, scope of work, and client requirements.
• Prepare detailed costing sheets for exhibitions, events, booths, branding, signage, fabrication, fit-out, and related projects.
• Prepare and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on drawings and project requirements.
• Calculate quantities for materials, fabrication, installation, transportation, manpower, equipment, and subcontracted works.
• Obtain, review, and compare quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, fabricators, and service providers.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns covering materials, labor, equipment, transportation, installation, and subcontracting.
• Apply appropriate markup, overhead, profit margin, contingency, and other commercial allowances based on company requirements.
• Prepare final pricing and quotation sheets for submission to the Sales or Commercial Team.
• Coordinate with Sales, Design, Production, Procurement, and Project Teams to clarify requirements and ensure accurate costing.
• Identify potential cost implications, missing information, and technical or commercial requirements during the estimation process.
• Maintain accurate and organized costing records and estimation documentation.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in estimation, costing, quantity surveying, exhibitions, fit-out, signage, advertising, or fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and costing spreadsheets.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOQs, layouts, and specifications.
• Good understanding of materials and works including MDF, plywood, acrylic, aluminum, PVC, digital printing, lighting, electrical works, carpentry, and metal fabrication.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred: Events, Exhibitions, Signage, Advertising, Branding, Fabrication, Interior Fit-Out, Retail Displays, or Digital Printing.
