This full-time position for a Deputy Resident Engineer - Civil (Saudi National Only) is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and supports SYSTRA’s Mobility & Railway Business Unit on new metro projects.

Role Overview

The Deputy Resident Engineer (Civil) will provide engineering and technical support for all Civil works performed on site within an assigned rail project area. This role involves monitoring contractor activities, ensuring project delivery aligns with specifications and schedules, and maintaining quality assurance oversight. The position requires 5-10 years of experience, with a focus on major civil or infrastructure projects, particularly within rail, metro, or related transportation sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate contractor activities to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
• Develop and monitor discipline-specific construction schedules against project milestones.
• Provide schedule updates, progress assessments, and reporting to the Construction Manager.
• Monitor material procurement, delivery, and availability to maintain construction schedules.
• Verify that delivered materials comply with project specifications, quality requirements, and industry standards.
• Maintain first-level quality assurance oversight for installation works in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
• Supervise construction engineering activities and provide technical expertise across construction disciplines.
• Ensure inspections and testing activities are conducted, witnessed, documented, and completed per approved procedures.
• Collaborate with construction management teams to identify and mitigate safety, environmental, and operational risks.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements.
• Coordinate with design engineering teams to support construction and resolve technical issues.
• Review and interpret design drawings and specifications to ensure work execution aligns with the latest approved revisions.
• Provide technical solutions to engineering and construction challenges and coordinate implementation.
• Maintain project records, progress reports, back-charge documentation, and other project controls documentation.
• Coordinate and organize project documentation for final handover and closeout activities.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and senior management to support project execution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience on major civil or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience on rail, metro, transit, or related transportation projects.
• Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

Required Skills

• Strong problem-solving, coordination, and organizational skills.
• Experience with construction materials testing and quality assurance, including soil, concrete, grout, dewatering, and load testing activities.
• Strong understanding of construction planning, material delivery, staging, scheduling, and site coordination.
• Knowledge of construction quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
