Role Purpose and Impact

The Disaster Recovery Specialist will be responsible for spearheading comprehensive risk assessments, formulating and executing robust disaster recovery (DR) strategies. This role is central to safeguarding business continuity by identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in DR planning, risk management, and possess profound technical acumen in contemporary DR technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities impacting various business functions.
• Critically evaluate existing DR plans to identify inefficiencies and gaps, recommending substantive improvements.
• Precisely analyze and establish recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for pivotal business processes.
• Craft and implement exhaustive DR plans that align with industry best practices and specific organizational requisites.
• Initiate recovery teams, delineate roles and responsibilities, and spearhead regular preparatory exercises.
• Guide the selection and implementation of DR solutions, encompassing backup technologies, data centers, and procedural recoveries.
• Direct the testing and validation of DR schemes, ensuring their efficacy and rectifying any deficiencies.
• Offer technical advice and support to internal teams concerning DR-related issues.

Required Experience and Knowledge

• Demonstrated success in developing and enforcing DR plans within complex entities.
• In-depth knowledge of DR technologies, tools, and methodologies, with a special focus on cloud-based solutions.
• Familiarity with DR best practices, industry standards (*, NIST CSF, ISO 27001), and regulatory frameworks.
• A solid grasp of risk management methodologies and threat analysis techniques.

Essential Skills and Certifications

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills.
• Preferred credentials include Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar certifications.
