EHS OFFICER

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an EHS Officer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires an individual with 5-10 years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS standards and practices across construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare all EHS-related documents, including EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
• Attend EHS meetings with clients and project teams, reporting all EHS issues to the Head Office.
• Provide EHS induction training to new workers and conduct daily EHS inspections for assigned zones.
• Ensure appropriate safe work permits are obtained by Engineers/Supervisors from Clients/Main Contractors.
• Conduct site-wide risk assessments, informing Site Engineers and/or Clients/Main Contractor of high-risk areas.
• Ensure weekly toolbox talks are delivered by Engineers to promote EHS awareness among workers.
• Verify that all personnel wear required personal protective equipment, including helmets, EHS shoes, and coveralls.
• Ensure equipment such as ladders and scaffolding are in good working condition before use.
• Maintain satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers, including access to water, rest areas, and adequate lighting and ventilation.
• Ensure proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents and accidents.
• Conduct Job EHS Analyses on high-risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions.
• Encourage workers and engineers to implement EHS practices.
• Investigate minor or major incidents/accidents with engineers and communicate results for future precautions.
• Administer first-aid or seek medical assistance for worker injuries.
• Maintain all documentation related to EHS activities.
• Establish, monitor, appraise, and coordinate upgraded integrated health, safety, and environment management systems (ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, ISO 9001) for construction projects, including procedure manual improvisation and internal audits.
• Conduct EHS training programs for engineers and workers on-site and participate in HR-organized EHS training.
• Perform hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities, ensuring method statements incorporate findings.
• Prepare EHS Plans and Environment Management Plans.
• Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party equipment inspections.
• Prepare Emergency Preparedness Plans and conduct emergency drills.
• Facilitate the implementation of the Work Permit System.
• Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures.
• Prepare EHS conditions of contract for sub-contractors.
• Stop work in case of unsafe practices and promote a proactive commitment to action.
• Carry out monthly project Risk Management Audits and quarterly system audits.
• Provide EHS reports to project and IC heads to inform them of current EHS performance status.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in an EHS role.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing EHS documentation and conducting inspections.
• Familiarity with ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards.
• Strong understanding of EHS practices within construction projects.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involving on-site responsibilities and coordination with various project stakeholders.
