Boutique Group is developing The Red Palace in Riyadh into an ultra-luxury boutique hotel. This historic landmark blends timeless elegance with contemporary sophistication, offering an exclusive glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s heritage through meticulously restored architecture and curated cultural experiences.

The Role of Engineering Supervisor

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the operation, control, maintenance, and repair of all systems, programs, equipment, assets, and administration within The Red Palace. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, reports directly to the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering and ensures optimal operating efficiency in line with Boutique Group standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive operation, control, maintenance, and repair of all engineering systems, equipment, and assets within The Red Palace, ensuring optimal efficiency and adherence to Boutique Group standards.
  • Implement and manage robust preventive and routine maintenance programs, utilizing specialized software, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
  • Lead, train, and supervise engineering staff and third-party contractors, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and ensuring readiness for emergency procedures.
  • Develop and execute contingency plans for system breakdowns, prioritize repair work, and ensure rapid, effective resolution of all technical issues to maintain guest and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of repair and maintenance tasks, including procurement of parts, quality control, installation, testing, and meticulous documentation and record-keeping.
  • Control and optimize energy management systems, maintain system temperatures via BMS, and manage inventory and stock levels to ensure continuous operational support.
  • Ensure all plant rooms, workshops, and related areas are kept clean and tidy, and conduct regular inspections to uphold operational standards and safety protocols.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and ensure professional interaction with all departments to promote overall guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary systems, programs, records, and documentation for inspections, audits, and compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.

Operational Management and Compliance

The Engineering Supervisor contributes to the development and implementation of strategies to maximize revenue, profitability, and cost control, ensuring optimal asset conditions and adherence to financial guidelines. This includes supporting store and procurement strategies, utility consumption control, and managing departmental expenses within budget. The role also mandates strict compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards, including the use of proper equipment, personal protective clothing (PPE), and correct lifting procedures. The supervisor must maintain a safe and clean environment, conduct regular inspections, address potential hazards, and stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes. Full awareness of chemical handling, Material Safety Data Sheet instructions, and the Hotel’s fire, emergency, and bomb procedures is required to ensure the security and safety of guests and employees.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Associate’s degree in engineering systems controls and administration or a similar field, or equivalent experience of 6 years. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of direct experience in Hospitality Engineering supervisory systems controls.
  • Technical Skills: Entry-level training on BMS building automation systems with the ability to utilize control programs for troubleshooting. Familiarity with Palace/Maintenance management software, systems, and programs.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Other: Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Local market experience is considered an asset.
