About the Executive Sous Chef Role
Capella Hotels and Resorts is seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join its culinary team in Riyadh. This full-time position operates as the second-in-command within the Culinary Division, providing essential support to the Director of Culinary. The role is integral to overseeing all culinary operations across various outlets, including restaurants and banquet facilities, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest dining experiences and contributing to the division's overall success.
Core Responsibilities
The Executive Sous Chef will support the Director of Culinary in the daily management of all culinary operations. This includes leading kitchen operations and representing the Culinary Division in the Director's absence. Key responsibilities involve ensuring consistent food quality, presentation, and guest dining experiences across all venues and events. The role also requires monitoring guest feedback to implement improvements and ensuring adherence to luxury hospitality standards, such as those set by Forbes and LQA.
Operational Management and Development
This position involves assisting with financial planning, including budgeting, CAPEX planning, and manpower planning, alongside cost control initiatives. The Executive Sous Chef will oversee food safety, hygiene, and operational standards in compliance with company requirements. Management of inventory, purchasing, and food cost controls are also critical functions. A significant aspect of the role includes developing, mentoring, and training culinary team members to foster high performance and continuous professional growth.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Management. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel or resort environment is required. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing multi-outlet culinary operations and banquet services, with well-rounded exposure across various kitchen disciplines and culinary functions.
Essential Skills and Competencies
Strong culinary knowledge and advanced food preparation techniques are essential. The role demands a thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality assurance standards. Proficiency in inventory management, food cost control, and kitchen administration is necessary. Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, are also required. Furthermore, strong leadership, team development, and operational management skills are crucial for success in this position.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, within the Riyadh Region of Saudi Arabia. The role offers the opportunity to work within a renowned luxury hospitality group.
