About the Role
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Fire Chief / Safety Advisor to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for the establishment, management, and sustainment of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) requirements in Safety and Fire Protection. The scope of this role includes management, training, quality, logistics, supply, maintenance, engineering, facilities, and resource activities.
Company Context and Mission
BAE Systems serves as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under Government-to-Government arrangements, providing essential equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. This encompasses the maintenance of RSAF aircraft and the safe training of RSAF personnel. BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of Saudi National Partner Companies, thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary focal point for all matters relating to RSAF Fire Protection and Safety Programs.
- Coordinate with various Safety Wing and Fire Squadron Commanders on airworthiness fire and safety, ensuring appropriate recommendations and remedial actions are provided to the RSAF.
- Direct, plan, and coordinate fire operations, training, maintenance, engineering, logistics, and contractual issues arising within Fire Squadron command as required.
- Provide impartial advice within maintenance and engineering in support of the RSAF strategic mission statement.
- Establish, develop, implement, and continually review organizational and management structures to ensure effective delivery of fire protection, underpinning this activity with effective communication processes.
- Coordinate the review and progress of technical submissions and Statements of Work for Fire Protection and Safety Projects within RSAF requirements.
- Conduct analysis of the effectiveness of fire protection and safety programs and provide recommendations on policies for maintaining Fire and Safety Squadrons, ensuring policies are implemented, controlled, and maintained to approved standards.
Program Management and Strategic Oversight
- Assume responsibility for overseeing and directing the management and delivery of major high-value programs to meet RSAF requirements.
- Ensure all aspects of the programs are fully defined to achieve RSAF requirements in accordance with RSAF Policies and Procedures, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes and Standards, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Curriculums.
- Provide a principal point of contact for RSAF-HQ, MODSAP, USMTM, and private companies regarding programs, proposals, negotiations, and their implementation, ensuring all relevant information is reported to RSAF-HQ Director of Safety/Fire Protection.
- Manage numerous multi-disciplined and multi-national teams in a variety of complex problems and situations across a wide spectrum of aviation fire protection activities, adopting a systematic approach to problem solving.
- Develop, maintain, and manage key relationships with RSAF Base Safety Wings, Fire Squadrons, the Fire Training Centre, and HQ Directorates to facilitate effective development and delivery of agreed objectives.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of aviation and structural fire protection management activities.
- Full conversancy with fire protection concepts of maintainability using International References.
- Comprehensive knowledge of fire service maintenance and engineering practices.
- Ability to think strategically and communicate a strategy/vision effectively.
- Proven capability to lead a team towards goals and objectives.
- Capacity to provide in-depth specialist advice to support RSAF strategic decision-making.
