Job Description

About Jones Engineering and the Geo Surveyor Role

Jones Engineering is seeking a dedicated Geo Surveyor to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is crucial for ensuring the precise execution of construction projects by accurately translating digital designs into physical realities on site.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Geo Surveyor plays a critical role in bridging the gap between digital models and physical construction. This position is responsible for establishing accurate site control grids, executing the precise set-out of construction elements, and conducting comprehensive 3D laser scanning. Working closely with project teams, the Surveyor will capture, process, and integrate high-fidelity point cloud data to support as-built verification, quality control, and seamless BIM workflows.

Field Operations and Site Set-Out

  • Establish, maintain, and verify primary and secondary control grids across active construction sites.
  • Translate project requirements and 3D models into actionable field layout data.
  • Perform precise set-out of structural and MEP elements using modern survey devices, including Robotic Total Stations.
  • Conduct terrestrial and mobile 3D laser scanning to capture existing site conditions and verify as-built installations.

Data Processing and Quality Assurance

  • Process, register, and clean 3D point cloud data using post-processing software such as Leica Cyclone Register and Leica Infinity.
  • Prepare and analyse survey data for field set-out, ensuring strict alignment with federated 3D models and construction drawings.
  • Export processed survey data and point clouds for integration into downstream authoring and coordination software (*, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
  • Conduct QA/QC checks on installed elements against the digital model to identify deviations or clashes early in the construction process.

Coordination and Project Delivery Support

  • Attend daily and weekly meetings with clients, contractors, and internal digital engineering teams to discuss project progress.
  • Generate clear, actionable reports on survey findings, site conditions, and set-out accuracy.
  • Perform any other site or office duties as required by the contractor to support project delivery.

Reporting and Employment Details

This is a full-time position. The Geo Surveyor will report directly to the BIM Manager and Construction Manager, ensuring close collaboration and alignment with project objectives.
