About the Role

Al Futtaim Group is seeking an HSE Engineer | MEP | Engineering & Technologies to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for implementing and monitoring the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) at construction project sites. The role ensures compliance with safety plans and procedures, conducts regular inspections, and coordinates safety meetings, playing a crucial part in maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) at construction project sites.
• Ensure compliance with approved project safety plans, procedures, processes, method statements, and associated risk assessments by project personnel and subcontractors.
• Conduct daily safety inspections to monitor work against documented safe systems of work or Permit to Work.
• Report non-conformances, corrective action reports, or safety violation slips to the Project Engineer immediately, both verbally and with a handwritten report copied to the HSE department.
• Liaise with the Project Manager and assist with tool box talk topics and materials provided by the HSE office.
• Chair internal site safety meetings, including subcontractors’ HSE representatives, and distribute minutes to all concerned parties and the HSE office.
• Expedite the closing of non-conformances or corrective actions identified through inspections or audits.
• Investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents, submitting detailed reports to the HSE office within 48 hours.
• Report all accidents, near-miss incidents, and dangerous occurrences immediately by phone, followed by a handwritten preliminary report from the concerned supervisor.
• Review and generate reports from subcontractors’ weekly safety reports, scaffolding inspection reports, and test certificates on lifting and complicated machinery.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and team in handling emergency situations.
• Provide on-job training materials and promote a proactive approach for implementing QHSE and asset management procedures and guidelines.

Reporting and Communication

• Report to the Sr. HSE Officer on HSE matters while stationed on site.
• Report to the Project Manager and Sr. HSE Officer regarding day-to-day inspections and tours.
• Track actions raised through meeting minutes and report any HSE actions exceeding the agreed timeframe to the Sr. Project Manager and Sr. HSE Officer.
• Prepare daily safety inspection reports and send copies to the Project Manager and Sr. HSE Officer.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 year of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor HSE management systems.
• Strong understanding of safety plans, procedures, and risk assessments.

Required Skills

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough accident investigations.
• Proficiency in preparing detailed safety reports.
• Capability to coordinate and lead safety meetings.
• Strong organizational skills for tracking and expediting corrective actions.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Riyadh, requiring close collaboration with project managers, subcontractors, and site staff to proactively address safety issues and enhance safety awareness across construction projects.
