About the Internship

Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a global biotechnology company, is seeking an Intern to join its International Patient Engagement (IPE) team. This is a 12-month contract position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The IPE team focuses on integrating patient perspectives into Vertex's work through collaborations with patient communities, supporting engagement activities across the lifecycle of Vertex therapies and medicines.

Role Overview

The Intern will contribute to the IPE team's efforts in fostering meaningful collaborations and ensuring patient needs are central to Vertex's innovation. This role offers insight into how external patient engagement informs strategic decisions within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. The position is suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, localization, and review of Arabic patient education materials.
• Collaborate with Vertex International headquarters in London to maintain content libraries and documentation.
• Coordinate with external agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure materials align with Vertex standards and compliance.
• Participate in meetings with patient organizations, advocacy groups, and internal stakeholders.
• Support the collection, analysis, and synthesis of patient insights, feedback, and educational opportunities.
• Research best practices in patient communication, engagement, and health literacy.
• Conduct research on disease awareness, patient education needs, and public health topics related to Nephropathy and Diabetes in Saudi Arabia.
• Map relevant patient associations and advocacy groups, and prepare meeting briefs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify unmet educational needs and support resource development.
• Assist with project management activities, including tracking timelines and maintaining project plans.
• Ensure accurate documentation, version control, and organization of patient education materials.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completed a relevant degree in Health Education, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
• Strong interest in patient engagement within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• 0-1 years of experience.
• Enthusiastic, curious, and highly motivated individual.

Work Environment

This position is a 12-month contract based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The intern will work within the International Patient Engagement team, collaborating with experienced professionals and contributing to projects focused on patient insights and innovative medicines.
