Position Overview

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Resident to join its team. This full-time role is centered on providing safe and effective drug therapy and clinical patient care services, ensuring optimal patient outcomes under the direct supervision of a preceptor.

Role Summary

The Pharmacy Resident is responsible for the accurate and timely distribution of medications to patients, thereby ensuring the effective implementation of the pharmaceutical care plan. This position also serves as a vital clinical resource for other pharmacy personnel, medical and nursing staff, and patients, contributing to comprehensive patient support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and process medication orders, checking demographic data (*, gender, age, weight), appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, dosage form, interactions, allergies, related laboratory values, and potential drug interactions.
  • Provide direct patient care through active participation in rounds, patient chart reviews, and the development and implementation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure the implementation of therapeutic regimens and monitoring plans (care plans) by taking appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Document interventions and recommendations/clarifications within the electronic Health Information System as applicable.
  • Detect, analyze, and report adverse drug reactions.
  • Design, execute, or participate in research projects, which may include data collection, statistical analysis, and the writing of research papers.
  • Participate in or assist with conducting performance and quality improvement projects.
  • Actively participate in conducting medication use evaluations (MUE).
  • Serve as an information and education resource for patients, students, colleagues, medical and nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in self and others' education, training, and development when assigned.
  • Adhere to all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

  • A ***** or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required.

Experience

This role is suitable for candidates with 0-1 year of experience, as no prior related experience is specifically required for this residency position.
