The Role: Plant & Heap Leach Superintendent

SGR is seeking a Plant & Heap Leach Superintendent to lead the operational execution of its gold processing facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on maximizing recovery efficiency and ensuring strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations within a demanding industrial setting. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence through effective team leadership and technical expertise in heap leach methodologies, reporting directly to the Mine Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust heap leach parameters, such as irrigation rates and solution chemistry, to maximize gold extraction efficiency.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including permit-to-work systems and hazardous material handling procedures.
• Manage shift rosters and conduct performance evaluations to ensure a competent and motivated operational workforce.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to prioritize critical repairs and minimize unplanned equipment downtime.
• Ensure all plant activities comply with local environmental regulations and the International Cyanide Management Code.
• Prepare detailed daily reports on production metrics, reagent usage, and operational incidents for management review.
• Manage operational expenditures for reagents and consumables to meet cost targets without compromising production quality.
• Develop and deliver technical training programs to enhance the skills and competency levels of plant operators.
• Lead emergency response efforts during plant upsets or chemical incidents to mitigate risks and ensure personnel safety.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance recovery rates and reduce operational costs.

Performance Objectives

• Achieve gold recovery rates that meet or exceed the annual budget target.
• Reduce specific cyanide consumption by five percent year-over-year.
• Maintain a record of zero lost-time injuries and zero reportable environmental incidents.
• Ensure plant availability remains above ninety-five percent throughout the year.
• Ensure all operators complete required technical certifications and training modules.
• Keep operational budget variances within plus or minus five percent of forecast.
• Close out audit findings within the agreed remediation timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in plant operations and heap leach methodologies.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in heap leach processes and gold extraction.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate an operational workforce.
• Strong understanding and commitment to safety and environmental regulations, including hazardous material handling and the International Cyanide Management Code.
• Ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proactive approach to balancing operational demands with rigorous safety standards and regulatory compliance.
