Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a strong heritage of innovation. We are seeking a PM Team Leader to join our global team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on driving project success and developing innovative solutions that contribute to a prosperous and sustainable society.

Role Overview

The PM Team Leader is responsible for the successful execution, governance, commercial performance, and delivery of multiple projects within the organization. This role provides leadership to Project Coordinators, Engineers, and Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations and customer expectations. The incumbent acts as the primary escalation point for project-related matters, drives project readiness for Steering Committee reviews, and manages commercial risks including Liquidated Damages (LDs), claims, and change orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and supervise a team of Project Engineers and Project Managers, establishing project execution strategies, priorities, and performance targets.
  • Oversee the execution of multiple EPC, Energy, Infrastructure, or Industrial projects, ensuring delivery within approved schedule, budget, quality, and HSE requirements.
  • Lead the management of contractual obligations and commercial exposures, including reviewing and addressing Liquidated Damages (LDs) risks and managing contract change orders, variation requests, and extension of time (EOT) claims.
  • Establish governance processes across all projects, ensuring readiness for Steering Committee and Executive Management reviews, and presenting project performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
  • Lead formal project close-out activities, ensuring completion of punch lists, final documentation, handover requirements, and overseeing final account settlements.
  • Act as the senior interface between customers and internal stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring customer concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Drive the implementation of project management standards and best practices, monitoring project KPIs, and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in project management, with a proven track record in leading teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage commercial risks, including Liquidated Damages, claims, and change orders, and support dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Experience in overseeing EPC, Energy, Infrastructure, or Industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of project governance processes, performance monitoring (KPIs, risk registers), and stakeholder management.

Team Leadership and Project Governance

The PM Team Leader will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement within the project team. This includes conducting performance reviews, development planning, and succession planning for project personnel. The role also involves driving proactive identification and mitigation of project risks, ensuring effective project close-out, and institutionalizing lessons learned and best practices across the portfolio. The incumbent will validate project dashboards, forecasts, and mitigation plans before presentation to senior management.
