The Role of Senior Wet Utilities Engineer

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Wet Utilities Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves leading the design and delivery of water, wastewater, irrigation, and stormwater infrastructure projects across Saudi Arabia. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, developers, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle, from master planning and hydraulic modelling to detailed design and approvals, contributing to sustainable utility solutions for major urban and infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and design documentation for water, wastewater, irrigation, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
• Supervise hydraulic modelling and calculations for various wet utility systems.
• Ensure the quality and timely delivery of wet utility deliverables in accordance with project schedules and design standards.
• Liaise with other disciplines to coordinate wet utility designs and ensure holistic project delivery.
• Incorporate best practices into design submissions and identify continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide design updates to project managers and clients.
• Check deliverables produced by others for wet utilities to ensure quality.
• Liaise with developers, clients, and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and present proposals.
• Coordinate project submittals, reviews, and approvals against contract requirements, advising on deviations.
• Assist in providing design inputs into other discipline reports as required.
• Outline cost and quantity estimations for wet services.
• Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, including knowledge sharing.
• Demonstrate safe, ethical, and inclusive behaviours aligned with Mott MacDonald values.

Candidate Specifications

• 5-10 years of experience working across the design life cycle, from master planning to detailed design.
• Strong experience in designing pressurized and gravity systems using Civil3D.
• Strong experience in hydraulic modelling of pressurized and gravity systems.
• Ability to manage design and approval processes, interfacing with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Capable of managing multiple teams with diverse backgrounds in geographically and culturally varied environments.
• Experience in the design and approval of infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.
• Sound knowledge of local authority requirements, guidelines, and standards within Saudi Arabia.
• Demonstrated ability to seek innovations and improvements for workload management and deliverable accomplishment.
• Adaptive mindset with strategic and critical thinking skills to approach problems.
• Ability to efficiently manage priorities and time.
• A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including with external stakeholders.
• Proactive approach towards complex tasks and overall delivery.
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is a full-time position within Mott MacDonald's growing infrastructure team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and various external stakeholders.
