The Role of a Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to medically ill pre- and post-operative patients. This role requires the application of professional knowledge and skills in strict adherence to HMG policies and procedures, ensuring that all assigned patients receive timely and coordinated multidisciplinary care.

Core Responsibilities

• Receive and manage assigned patients according to daily assignments.
• Apply the nursing care process to assigned patients in line with approved policies.
• Develop individualized nursing care plans, collaborating with other healthcare team members.
• Monitor patient status, promptly reporting any deviations or abnormal findings to the team leader and attending physician.
• Execute physician's orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide individualized education to patients and their families based on their specific needs.
• Document patient assessment findings, physical responses to nursing interventions, and progress in status.
• Initiate emergency and resuscitative measures when required.
• Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Perform nursing procedures as required within the unit.
• Perform other assigned tasks and duties as directed by the charge nurse or head nurse, consistent with knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Leadership and Professional Development

• When assigned as shift in charge (team leader), provide clinical supervision and support to the assigned shift to ensure comprehensive patient care, which includes:
• Conduct patient rounds.
• Report unusual incidents to nursing supervision.
• Attend physician rounds.
• Participate in patient status presentations and endorsements.
• Participate in departmental education and training activities.
• Attend departmental meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in nursing.
• Demonstrated professional knowledge and skills in providing nursing care.

Commitment to Quality and Patient Care

• Adhere to JCIA / CBAHI standards and all HMG policies.
• Maintain required unit-specific competencies as per the approved competency matrix.
• Demonstrate flexibility to meet work demands, including participation in pull-out and floating assignments as needed.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives.
• Enhance patient experience through compassionate, respectful, and dignified care.
