About the Role

HanmiGlobal Saudi is seeking an experienced Resident Mechanical Engineer to join its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and will focus on a major residential development project. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity on large-scale construction projects.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Resident Mechanical Engineer will oversee all mechanical engineering activities throughout the construction phase. The primary objective is to ensure that all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and LPG systems, are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in strict accordance with contract documents, applicable codes, quality standards, and the project schedule. This involves close coordination with other disciplines to resolve interface issues and ensure seamless project execution.

• Supervise all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and LPG systems.
• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, and technical submissions.
• Verify that all mechanical works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and infrastructure disciplines to address interface challenges.
• Monitor construction progress against the approved project program.
• Lead mechanical inspections and witness testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system performance verification.
• Review and approve inspection records, test reports, commissioning documentation, and as-built drawings.
• Identify construction issues and propose practical engineering solutions.
• Monitor contractor performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Participate in technical meetings, progress meetings, and coordination workshops.
• Support commercial evaluations for variations, claims, and technical assessments when requested.
• Ensure full compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and project governance requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and provide regular project updates to management.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university. A valid registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers is mandatory. Professional membership with an internationally recognized engineering institution is considered an advantage. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of overall experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years specifically in a Resident Mechanical Engineer or similar supervisory role on large-scale construction projects. Previous experience with Project Management Consultants (PMC) is highly preferred. Experience in residential, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, or major building developments is desirable.

• Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering management software.
• Knowledge of project planning and construction sequencing.
• PMP certification is an advantage.
• ASHRAE membership or equivalent professional certification is desirable.
