About the Role

Ericsson is seeking an experienced RF Design SME to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading wireless network design across 2G, 4G, and 5G technologies, ensuring optimal network coverage, capacity, and quality. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and work with internal teams and customers to deliver solutions that meet both regulatory and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan wireless networks (2G/4G/5G) with a focus on coverage, capacity, and quality of experience.
• Perform network dimensioning, including estimating cells/sites/sectors and forecasting radio resources based on traffic and growth projections.
• Conduct link budget calculations and optimize designs for diverse environments such as urban, suburban, rural, and indoor settings.
• Apply and validate propagation models (*, Hata, COST-231, Okumura, or tailored models) to inform site placement, antenna height, and azimuth.
• Utilize RF design tools such as Atoll, Planet, Mentum, or equivalent for simulation, coverage prediction, interference analysis, and reporting.
• Specify and dimension RF hardware, including antennas, amplifiers, TRXs, RRUs, and power supplies, in alignment with design requirements, coordinating with procurement and deployment teams.
• Tune network parameters and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance network performance, using drive test and field data to refine models.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
• Collaborate with planning, RAN engineering, field operations, and other teams throughout network rollout and troubleshooting phases.
• Interface directly with customers to gather requirements, present design proposals, and ensure solutions align with business objectives and regulatory needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in RF design or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in wireless network design across 2G, 4G, and 5G technologies.
• Proficiency in RF design tools and methodologies.
• Ability to stay current with wireless industry developments, including 5G features, network slicing, and IoT, and integrate best practices into designs.
