About the Role

Alfanar is seeking a Section Manager Material Planning to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing all material planning activities within the section, ensuring materials are available on time to meet production schedules and customer demands. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of relevant experience and will coordinate closely with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels, enhance planning accuracy, and support cost-effective supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement material planning processes in alignment with departmental strategies and operational requirements.
  • Review material requirements based on demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory status.
  • Ensure timely issuance of material requisitions to procurement for ordering.
  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials, components, and consumables to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to maintain accurate inventory records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Recommend adjustments to inventory policies based on consumption patterns and lead times.
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure timely supplier deliveries in line with production needs.
  • Work closely with production planners to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
  • Collaborate with sales, logistics, and quality teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Track section-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to material availability, stock accuracy, and order fulfillment.
  • Prepare and submit regular material planning status reports to higher management.
  • Identify gaps in planning accuracy and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify risks related to material shortages, supplier delays, or forecast inaccuracies.
  • Propose mitigation strategies such as safety stock adjustments or alternative sourcing.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Recruit, recognize, and cultivate high performers, exposing them to create a robust second line of management.
  • Recognize low performers and guide them to improve or manage their exit.
  • Treat subordinates equally without discrimination, assessing performance based on planned results.
  • Ensure the availability of a delegation of authority matrix to provide sufficient delegations as per company policy.
  • Take full responsibility for the operation as per the job description and required deliverables, adhering to company guidelines.
  • Anticipate problems and take proactive steps to prevent them.
  • Make necessary and proper timely decisions.
  • Deliver required results in a timely manner with the specified quality and cost.
  • Make a tangible difference to the area of operation and exceed business expectations.

Business Planning and Operational Excellence

  • Transform corporate goals into actionable business plans.
  • Plan, follow up on, and execute annual and development plans.
  • Monitor plan performance, initiate actions to strengthen results, and take corrective actions accordingly.
  • Provide periodic work progress reports.
  • Monitor and control budgets and expenses to achieve optimum cost efficiency.
  • Develop the organizational structure according to current requirements, considering future and development plans.
  • Ensure the availability of job descriptions for all job roles and their deployment.
  • Develop and coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, seeking automation opportunities.
  • Be conversant with and able to navigate IT solutions relevant to the job and business, promoting their full utilization.
  • Uphold quality as Alfanar’s prime competitive advantage, acting accordingly.
  • Adapt to new and alternative techniques, technologies, management structures, and business models.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in material planning or a related field.
