About the Opportunity

CODE Ltd is seeking a Senior Asterisk Developer to join its engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves taking ownership of the company's voice infrastructure and working on core telephony systems that power its communications platform. This is a hands-on senior position focused on architecting, building, and scaling Asterisk-based telephony systems, rather than a maintenance role.

Role Context and Impact

The Senior Asterisk Developer will be responsible for managing real production call traffic and ensuring the robust performance of the voice platform. This involves a deep engagement with the entire lifecycle of telephony systems, from initial design to ongoing optimization and troubleshooting, contributing directly to the reliability and scalability of CODE Ltd's communication services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Asterisk-based telephony systems, including PBX, IVR, ACD, call routing, and queuing.
• Build and optimize SIP trunking, VoIP call flows, and integrations with telecom carriers and SIP providers.
• Develop custom dialplans, AGI/AMI scripts, and Asterisk modules to support advanced routing logic such as VIP routing, skill-based routing, and callback queues.
• Extend and modify core Asterisk functionality using C++ and Python on a custom-edited Asterisk engine.
• Ensure high availability, call quality, and low-latency performance across concurrent call loads.
• Implement and maintain features for call recording, monitoring, live coaching, and quality management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to call quality, SIP signaling, NAT traversal, codecs, and network configuration.
• Support security and compliance requirements, including TLS/SRTP encryption, call masking, and environment isolation.
• Contribute to architecture decisions for scaling and hardening the voice platform.
• Document technical designs.

Required Experience and Technical Skills

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in Asterisk development and voice infrastructure. A strong command of the following technical areas is essential:

• Extensive experience with Asterisk-based telephony systems (PBX, IVR, ACD, call routing).
• Proficiency in SIP trunking, VoIP call flows, and integration with telecom carriers.
• Ability to develop custom dialplans, AGI/AMI scripts, and Asterisk modules.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python for extending core Asterisk functionality.
• Expertise in ensuring high availability, call quality, and low-latency performance.
• Experience with call recording, monitoring, and quality management features.
• Troubleshooting skills for issues related to SIP signaling, NAT traversal, codecs, and network configuration.
• Understanding of security and compliance for voice platforms (TLS/SRTP, call masking).
