About the Role

CODE Ltd is seeking a Senior Asterisk Developer to join its engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves taking ownership of the company's voice infrastructure and working on core telephony systems that manage real production call traffic. The position requires a hands-on professional capable of architecting, building, and scaling Asterisk-based telephony systems, focusing on development rather than maintenance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Asterisk-based telephony systems, including PBX, IVR, ACD, call routing, and queuing.
  • Build and optimize SIP trunking, VoIP call flows, and integrations with telecom carriers and SIP providers.
  • Implement and maintain features for call recording, monitoring, live coaching, and quality management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to call quality, SIP signaling, NAT traversal, codecs, and network configuration.
  • Support security and compliance requirements, such as TLS/SRTP encryption, call masking, and environment isolation.

Advanced Development and Architecture

  • Develop custom dialplans, AGI/AMI scripts, and Asterisk modules to support advanced routing logic (*, VIP routing, skill-based routing, callback queues).
  • Work on and extend the custom-edited Asterisk engine, modifying core functionality using C++ and Python.
  • Ensure high availability, call quality, and low-latency performance across concurrent call loads.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions for scaling and hardening the voice platform.
  • Document technical designs for implemented solutions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of SIP protocol, RTP/SRTP, VoIP fundamentals, and telecom carrier integrations.
  • Experience building or supporting IVR systems, ACD, call queuing, and call routing logic.
  • Solid Linux administration skills, including server setup, networking, firewalls, and NAT/SIP troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex, live call quality issues.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Proficiency with Asterisk dialplan (*************, AGI, AMI, and ARI.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python, with experience customizing or extending Asterisk's core engine.
  • Familiarity with integrating Asterisk with external systems via REST APIs or webhooks.
  • Experience with WebRTC.
  • Experience with call recording, compliance, and data residency requirements.

Experience Level

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in Asterisk development and voice infrastructure. This is a full-time position.
