About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Senior Banquet Manager for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves directing and motivating a team to deliver high-quality service, while also managing financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection. The Senior Banquet Manager will provide clear communications to all stakeholders involved in event success and identify training opportunities to plan strategies for accomplishing goals.

The Senior Banquet Manager plays a critical role in guiding the team to achieve excellence in guest care and comfort, contributing significantly to the overall success of events and the brand's reputation.

Banquet Operations Management

Key responsibilities for managing banquet operations include:

  • Projecting departmental supply needs, such as china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props.
  • Applying knowledge of all relevant laws pertaining to event operations.
  • Understanding the impact of banquet operations on overall event success and managing activities to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Adhering to and reinforcing established service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining sanitation levels and managing departmental inventories and equipment.
  • Controlling costs through banquet beverage records and managing the perpetual inventory.
  • Scheduling banquet service staff based on forecasts and service standards to maximize profitability.
  • Assisting the team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and foster growth.

Guest Service Excellence

The Senior Banquet Manager is responsible for fostering an environment of exceptional guest service through:

  • Setting a positive example for guest relations and actively interacting with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Responding to and effectively resolving guest problems and complaints.
  • Empowering employees to consistently provide excellent customer service and ensuring they understand expectations and parameters.
  • Striving for continuous improvement in service performance and emphasizing guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings.
  • Reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees to drive improvements.

Team Leadership and Development

This role involves significant leadership and team development, including:

  • Setting clear goals and delegating tasks to enhance departmental performance.
  • Conducting monthly department meetings with the Banquet team.
  • Applying and continually broadening knowledge of food and beverage, including cutting-edge cuisine and current event trends.
  • Acting as a liaison to the kitchen staff and actively participating in the servicing of events.
  • Communicating and executing departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety protocols.
  • Observing employee service behaviors, providing constructive feedback, and monitoring progress through regular discussions.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of corrective action plans, including reviewing quarterly Meeting Planner Survey results to address service challenges.
  • Attending and participating in all pertinent meetings.

Experience Required

Candidates for this full-time position are expected to have 2-5 years of relevant experience in banquet management or a similar hospitality leadership role.
