Senior Cost control Engineer

About the Role

Alfanar Projects is seeking a Senior Cost Control Engineer to manage and forecast costs for construction projects. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves establishing project budgets, tracking actual costs and commitments, identifying potential overruns, and providing reliable forecasts to project teams for early intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up project cost breakdown structures and budgets using SAP or similar project cost systems.
• Review project scope and requirements to prepare detailed estimates to complete.
• Track actual costs, commitments, and budget changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Compare budgeted costs with actual and forecast costs, identify overruns, and provide explanations.
• Prepare and regularly update cost forecasts, project cash flows, and cost reports.
• Analyze percentage of completion, project progress, and financial performance in collaboration with project and finance teams.
• Review proposed budget revisions and reconcile cost figures with the Finance department.
• Collaborate with project execution, planning, resources, and supply chain teams to obtain accurate cost and progress information.
• Highlight cost risks early and recommend practical actions to protect project profitability.
• Support cost-saving initiatives without compromising project requirements or delivery schedules.
• Prepare clear reports and dashboards for project teams and management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of hands-on cost control experience in a large construction or EPC company.
• Demonstrated experience in setting up project budgets, tracking costs, and preparing forecasts and financial reports.
• Good understanding of estimates to complete, cash flow forecasting, percentage of completion (POC), and project cost performance.
• Working experience with SAP PS/CO or a similar project cost management system.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to clearly explain cost variances and work closely with both project teams and Finance.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCP or PMP certification.
• Experience using Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Experience with Primavera and Power BI.

This role operates within a dynamic project environment, requiring close collaboration with various teams including project execution, planning, resources, and supply chain. The position is full-time, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
