About the Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to significant projects within a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess concrete mix designs for compliance with project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and implement material improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct design reviews, investigations, inspections, and testing to verify contractor-selected materials and construction processes meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend suitable materials for specific engineering and construction applications.
  • Assess material characteristics and performance properties, including durability, sustainability, electrical conductivity, and environmental resistance.
  • Evaluate and compare material properties to determine the feasibility of proposed material substitutions.
  • Review the impact of new and revised standards on project materials and construction practices.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and workmanship, maintain quality records, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed out.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on material performance, testing results, and construction-related material issues.
  • Review and approve contractor quality plans, procedures, and material-related documentation.
  • Assess environmental considerations of materials, products, and construction processes, including waste management and sustainability impacts.
  • Review and approve material test results for resistance to environmental conditions such as heat, corrosion, chemical exposure, and other performance requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, evaluations, and recommendations regarding supplier performance, material compliance, and product assessments.
  • Develop and manage supplier audit programs and conduct supplier quality audits.
  • Provide site support and technical advice related to material failures, specification deviations, concrete defects, settlement issues, and earthworks performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the design, selection, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of construction materials.
  • Experience working on major civil, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, material testing methodologies, and quality assurance processes.
  • Good understanding of international standards and specifications related to material engineering.
  • Experience reviewing concrete mix designs, earthworks materials, construction products, and material compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of rail, metro, transit, or transportation systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and material quality assessments in large-scale project environments.

Requirements
