About the Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves ensuring the quality and suitability of materials used in major construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess concrete mix designs for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and implement material improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct design reviews, material investigations, inspections, and testing to verify that contractor-selected materials and construction processes meet project specifications.
  • Review and recommend appropriate materials for specific engineering and construction applications.
  • Assess material characteristics and performance properties, including durability, sustainability, conductivity, and resistance to environmental conditions.
  • Evaluate and compare material properties to determine the feasibility of proposed material substitutions.
  • Review the impact of new standards, code revisions, and specification changes on project materials and construction practices.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and workmanship, maintain quality records, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on material performance issues and construction-related material challenges.
  • Review and approve contractor quality plans, material procedures, and related documentation.
  • Assess the environmental implications of materials, products, and construction processes, including waste reduction and sustainability.
  • Review and approve material testing results to verify compliance with performance requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and evaluations related to material suppliers, products, and performance assessments.
  • Develop and manage supplier audit programs and conduct supplier quality audits.
  • Provide site support and technical advice regarding material failures, specification deviations, and other construction material concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in the design, selection, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of construction materials.
  • Experience working on major civil, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, material testing methodologies, and quality assurance processes.
  • Good understanding of international standards and specifications related to material engineering.
  • Experience reviewing concrete mix designs, earthworks materials, construction products, and material compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desired Skills

  • Experience on rail, metro, transit, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of rail systems engineering principles and construction practices.
  • Previous GCC project experience.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and material quality assessments in large-scale project environments.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh. The role involves working within a team environment on significant construction projects.
