About the Role

SmartChoice International GCC is seeking a Senior Product Designer, Design Systems & AI, to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves shaping the design of AI-powered products across web and mobile platforms. The position requires a hands-on approach, combining product design, interaction design, visual design, and design-system development.

Role Context and Responsibilities

The Senior Product Designer will be responsible for designing products that are actively shipping while simultaneously building reusable foundations to ensure consistent experiences across multiple products. This involves close collaboration with engineering teams to translate design decisions into reusable components, tokens, documentation, and implementation-ready assets. The ideal candidate will combine strong product craft with systems thinking, solving detailed product problems while creating foundations that enable engineering teams to operate efficiently.

• Design user flows, screens, interactions, and product states for web and mobile.
• Establish a consistent visual language across typography, color, spacing, layout, iconography, and motion.
• Build and maintain a scalable design system, including tokens, components, patterns, and usage guidelines.
• Create design libraries and assets for direct use by engineering teams.
• Translate design decisions into implementation-ready specifications and documentation.
• Design AI-specific experiences, such as conversational interfaces, generated content, system activity, errors, and human approval workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers to review implementation and refine the system based on product usage.
• Utilize AI tooling to accelerate design, prototyping, and development handoff.
• Manage system evolution through documentation, versioning, and removal of outdated patterns.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of building production design systems. The role requires a pragmatic, collaborative individual capable of translating complex AI product requirements into simple, intuitive experiences.

• Strong product design craft and experience in building production design systems.
• Experience with conversational and chat interfaces.
• Familiarity with dynamic or generated content.
• Experience with automated workflows and agent interactions.
• Understanding of loading, latency, error, and refusal states.
• Experience with citations, references, or supporting information in design.
• Knowledge of human review and approval experiences.
