About Aajil and the Senior Product Engineer Role

Aajil is a Saudi, Sharia-compliant B2B working-capital fintech operating in Riyadh, serving the industrial supply chain. The company builds its entire lending business on an internal product suite, covering credit decisioning, collections, deal processing, and an AI outbound engine. We are genuinely AI-native, orchestrating AI for most implementations. We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our full-time team, bringing 5-10 years of experience to drive the development and delivery of core product solutions. This role is central to our rapid scaling and commitment to a flat, low-management culture where individuals are trusted with significant ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of ambiguous, important problems from conception through to a live, used solution by understanding the real need at the source.
• Translate ambiguity into a clear specification, defining what to build, why, what "done" looks like, and setting the technical direction.
• Build the solution, leveraging AI for speed, and ship it against the defined criteria.
• Own delivery from specification to production, including unblocking, shipping, and verifying that the solution addresses the problem in the real world.
• Build for maintainability and ensure smooth handover, allowing work to continue independently, and raise the engineering bar for others.
• Proactively identify problems across deal processing, collections, and revenue that have not been flagged, making proactive improvement a core responsibility.

Candidate Profile and Expectations

We are looking for an individual who thrives in ambiguity; the more complex and important the brief, the more suitable the candidate. The ideal candidate speaks both business and engineering languages, capable of translating business needs into system requirements without intermediaries. This role requires self-accountability, driving outcomes to completion with zero follow-up. Being AI-native is a hard requirement, meaning candidates build primarily by orchestrating AI and ship significantly faster because of it. Candidates should focus on building whole systems, including net-new products and deep rebuilds, with end-to-end ownership in production. This is not a coordinator's role, nor is it purely product management or pure engineering; it demands building and owning the business result, not just the code.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Python or similar languages.
• Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
• Skilled at running technical discovery with stakeholders to clarify needs, constraints, and success criteria.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines for both structured and unstructured data, leveraging vector databases and RAG-style retrieval to power enterprise AI applications.
• A track record of owning a system end-to-end in production, shipped and operated.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in AI, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience implementing multi-agent systems with frameworks (*, LangChain, ADK).
• Hands-on experience with LLM and the evaluation aspects of agentic systems.
• Fintech/credit domain experience.

Work Environment and Hiring Process

At Aajil, you will work outside the hierarchy with high autonomy. Full-stack engineers are deployed onto the highest-leverage problems rather than sitting in a fixed team. We operate on weekly sprints with AI-first tooling. Your work will directly serve our internal credit, operations, and sales teams, with immediate deployment. This is a senior, top-of-band position. Our hiring process does not use LeetCode and involves a recruiter screen, followed by two live technical rounds. One round focuses on scoping and designing a real, ambiguous problem from our domain, while the other involves writing code unaided and then building AI-leveraged solutions. We assess your ability to turn ambiguity into shipped value and your fluency in both business and engineering. Candidates tend to thrive here when they are comfortable moving without full certainty, prefer to sort things directly with colleagues rather than escalate, and desire ownership from early on rather than a well-defined scope.
