Project Context: King Salman International Airport

Bechtel has an 80-year track record in complex airport projects, including both Greenfield and Brownfield developments, with significant involvement in major international airports across the GCC. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company has been appointed to provide project management consultancy services, encompassing technical, commercial, and construction management, for the development of the King Salman International Airport (KSIA) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This new international airport is projected to serve up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, with a cargo capacity reaching million tons by 2050. Bechtel's PMC scope includes three new terminals: Terminal 6 (a new build ‘low cost carrier’ terminal of approximately 450,000m2 GFA with 20mppa capacity), an Iconic Terminal (a new build ‘new concept’ terminal of approximately 1M m2 GFA with 40-45 mppa capacity), and a Private Aviation Terminal with hangars for VIP and business jet passengers.

The Role of Senior Project Engineer

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the King Salman International Airport project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves leading internal and external design consultant teams. The role requires interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the engineering technical aspects for a complex passenger terminal building. The Senior Project Engineer will also contribute to project planning, participate in proposal reviews, and be responsible for the engineering elements of capital estimates. Technical guidance and recommendations provided will be essential in ensuring engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within defined scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage medium to large-sized complex engineering assignments within a global business unit.
• Assume full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assigned tasks.
• Participate in project planning prior to proposals, providing technical guidance during the engineering and construction review of proposals.
• Contribute to and manage the engineering elements of project capital estimates, including quantities and budgets, for both proposals and execution.
• Review major changes or deviations in project scope, material quantities, budget, or schedule, assisting in defining changes, obtaining accurate estimates of hours, and recommending budget adjustments.
• Ensure alignment of engineering efforts with Project Management, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H), and Project Controls.
• Direct the preparation of project studies, reports, forecasts, specialized engineering reports, and plant data books.

Required Experience

Candidates for the Senior Project Engineer role should possess 17 to 19 years of relevant experience in project engineering, preferably within large-scale infrastructure or complex construction projects.
