About the Opportunity

Wood is seeking a PE IV/Senior Project Engineer to join its Project Management team. This full-time role is based in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia, and is integral to the development of a new gold mine and processing facility located at a remote site within the region. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring project execution excellence.

Core Project Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instruction, and Contract requisitions.
  • Prepare comprehensive project plans and multi-discipline documents, including basis of design and subcontract scopes of work.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering multidiscipline inputs and deliverables across various execution centers, including workshare and high-value engineering centers.

Quality, HSE, and Assurance

  • Understand and adhere to the project's quality system, actively monitoring and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) issues are identified and effectively managed throughout all project phases, from design to operations.
  • Develop Project Specific Procedures to maintain operational standards.
  • Assure that all engineering disciplines strictly comply with the contract and defined scope of work during project activities.
  • Verify the quality of engineering deliverables before their issuance to the customer.
  • Chair technical meetings with Third Parties and manage specific technical issues to successful completion.

Schedule and Change Management

  • Plan individual work activities and manage time effectively to meet project timelines.
  • Liaise with various disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments and inputs.
  • Provide input to the overall work plan, set targets, and conduct regular reviews of progress.
  • Expedite Engineers to deliver according to schedule, identify reasons for delays, and drive the development of recovery plans.
  • Resolve most project delays or changes, escalating only the most serious issues to senior management.
  • Highlight and quantify changes that impact project work and ensure approved changes are effectively implemented.

Team Coordination and Supervision

  • Supervise the work of technical professionals in the delivery of engineering deliverables, including thorough work checking.
  • Coordinate a medium-sized interdisciplinary team, typically comprising 10-50 individuals.
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate collaborative work efforts and motivate the team towards project goals.
  • Maintain a strong, positive, and proactive attitude in identifying and implementing solutions to challenges.

Required Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in project engineering, ideally within large-scale industrial or mining projects.
