The Role: Senior Traffic & Detour Engineer

Dar is seeking a Senior Traffic & Detour Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves overseeing all aspects of temporary traffic management and detour schemes for significant road and bridge construction projects. The successful candidate will ensure these schemes are safe, efficient, and fully compliant with Saudi traffic regulations and project specifications.

Traffic Management and Detour Planning

• Prepare and review Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and detour designs in coordination with design and construction teams.
• Ensure all plans and designs comply with MOT / RCRC traffic standards, Saudi Building Codes, and relevant safety regulations.
• Coordinate with key stakeholders, including traffic police, municipalities, utility providers, and client representatives, to secure necessary approvals for detours and road closures.

Safety, Supervision, and Monitoring

• Implement international and local best practices for road safety within construction work zones.
• Monitor the on-site implementation of traffic diversions, signage, barriers, and lighting to ensure adherence to approved plans.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments for all detour operations and recommend effective mitigation measures.
• Supervise the contractor’s traffic management and detour works on site, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Inspect installed detours and traffic arrangements, verifying proper execution and ongoing maintenance.
• Ensure continuous accessibility for emergency services, local residents, and businesses throughout the construction period.

Coordination and Documentation

• Liaise effectively with clients, authorities, and other stakeholders regarding traffic diversions and road closures.
• Provide expert technical advice and solutions for unforeseen site traffic issues.
• Support project scheduling efforts to minimize disruption to overall traffic flow.
• Review and approve the contractor’s traffic detour drawings and method statements.
• Maintain accurate records of all traffic management activities and incidents.
• Prepare comprehensive progress reports and highlight any non-compliance or safety concerns.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Senior Traffic & Detour Engineer position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in traffic management and detour planning for road and bridge construction projects.
