About the Opportunity

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join its Construction Supervision team. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, focusing on major transportation infrastructure projects within the region.

Role Summary

The Senior Traffic Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all traffic engineering and traffic management activities during the construction phases of complex transportation infrastructure developments. This role ensures strict compliance with project specifications, local regulations, safety standards, and consultant requirements, requiring extensive site supervision experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor traffic engineering and traffic management activities during construction phases.
  • Review and evaluate Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), traffic diversions, temporary road layouts, and work zone traffic control measures.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, local authorities, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth traffic operations throughout project execution.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved designs, traffic safety requirements, and construction methodologies.
  • Review contractor submittals, method statements, shop drawings, and traffic impact assessments.
  • Monitor and report traffic-related risks, incidents, and mitigation measures.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Support the Resident Engineer and Project Management team in resolving traffic engineering and operational challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports, inspection records, and progress updates.
  • Liaise with municipal and transportation authorities regarding permits, approvals, and traffic management requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience of 5 to 10 years in construction supervision and consultancy environments.
  • Strong site supervision experience on major transport infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, utilities, and infrastructure corridors.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing traffic management plans, temporary traffic control schemes, and traffic diversion arrangements.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian standards and international traffic engineering practices is preferred.
  • Membership of a recognized professional engineering institution is advantageous.

Essential Skills

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams within fast-paced construction environments.

Work Environment

This full-time role is integral to our Construction Supervision team, operating within dynamic project environments across Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The position requires active engagement on site to ensure project success and compliance.
