About the Role

Saudi Services For Electro Mechanic Works Co. SSEM, a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, is seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning Engineer. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 5-10 years of experience. The role focuses on ensuring the reliable and efficient commissioning of electrical systems within high voltage (HV) and extra-high voltage (EHV) substations, power plants, and other industrial projects.

Role Overview

The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning of HV/EHV substations, power systems, and electrical infrastructure. This involves ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and performance standards. The role includes conducting various electrical tests, troubleshooting system issues, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully functional electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of HV and EHV substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV).
• Conduct primary and secondary injection tests for transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and control panels.
• Execute circuit breaker timing tests, insulation resistance tests, and transformer oil testing.
• Verify SCADA, relay protection systems, and communication protocols for substation automation.
• Analyze and interpret test results to identify system malfunctions or deviations.
• Diagnose faults in circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, relays, transformers, and protection schemes.
• Implement corrective actions and coordinate with engineering teams for issue resolution.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with SEC (Saudi Electricity Company), IEC, IEEE, and NETA standards.
• Maintain accurate test reports, commissioning records, and as-built documentation.
• Participate in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) programs to ensure safety compliance during testing activities.
• Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and third-party testing agencies to meet project milestones.
• Attend technical meetings and provide detailed progress reports on testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure successful integration of protection and control systems with SCADA/DCS.
• Conduct final acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
• Facilitate project handover by preparing operation and maintenance manuals and training plant personnel.
• Recommend process improvements and testing methodologies to enhance efficiency.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies in testing, protection, and automation systems.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing and commissioning activities.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems, particularly within HV/EHV substations.
