About the Role
Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Structural Supervisor for the Ar Rjum Project, a greenfield gold project located in Saudi Arabia, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif. This full-time role involves overseeing structural process plant activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality execution in coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Project Context
The Ar Rjum Project encompasses open pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure. As a Structural Supervisor, you will play a key role in the successful completion of this complex project, ensuring operations align with established schedules and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities.
- Ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and work methods are executed safely.
- Coordinate subcontractor management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Support mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders.
- Monitor subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Review subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate the impact of construction operations on external interfaces to ensure alignment with overall established schedules.
- Monitor the installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and other requirements.
- Enforce established policies, procedures, and work rules.
- Support Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting engineering and technical documents.
- Coordinate engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinate with Design on constructability issues.
- Lead and supervise structural steel construction activities, including large-scale stick-built and modular construction projects.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and direct-hire workforce to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure all structural works are executed in accordance with approved engineering drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project procedures.
- Review and interpret engineering and technical documentation, and resolve field-related technical issues.
- Drive structural construction utilizing Work Packaging principles, managing constraints and work-front availability.
- Coordinate with Construction Field Engineers, Quality, Safety, and Project Controls teams.
- Coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, and erection activities for structural steel and modular installations.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor short-term construction plans, including 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Ensure implementation of project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements and Safety Management Plans.
- Oversee the planning and utilization of construction tools, equipment, and consumables.
- Conduct regular field inspections to monitor work progress, safety compliance, quality standards, and workforce productivity.
- Interface with engineering, procurement, client representatives, and subcontractors to resolve construction challenges.
- Support project reporting requirements by maintaining accurate records of construction progress and field issues.
Qualifications and Experience
This role requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. A minimum of +10 years of experience is required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform extensive field inspections within active construction environments.
- Capability of walking long distances, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces as required.
- Ability to work in hot and humid climatic conditions typical of Middle East construction projects.
- Capability of using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with assigned construction activities.
