Electrical Technician (SMP)

About the Role

SAMREF Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Ltd. is seeking an Electrical Technician (SMP) to join their team in Yanbu. This is a contract position requiring 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on performing essential electrical repairs, preventive maintenance (PM), installations, and switching operations within the refinery and associated facilities.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the reliable operation of electrical systems by conducting necessary repairs, executing preventive maintenance schedules, performing new installations, and managing electrical switching operations, including isolation and re-energization of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily walkabouts of substations, reporting any equipment status changes or abnormalities to the Group Leader.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on substations and distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, power factor capacitors, MCCs, UPS, battery chargers, and substation annunciators, with assistance from a senior technician for complex activities.
• Carry out repairs and PM for process-located electrical equipment such as induction and synchronous motors, MOVs, electric heaters, electric heat tracing, cathodic protection, lighting and emergency lighting distribution panels (LDPs & ELDPs), soot blowers control systems, electrostatic desalters and coalescer transformers, ship loading arm systems, mooring hooks, QRA fire water monitoring systems, fire alarm systems, CCTV, and various field-located PLCs related to electrical systems.
• Execute substations and equipment switching, isolation, and re-energization procedures for items like motors and switchgears.
• Perform re-lamping and beacon light repairs across the refinery and off-site locations, in addition to PM for emergency lighting panels (ELDP).
• Provide portable lighting during emergencies, shutdowns, or as required.
• Conduct weekly run tests for emergency generators.
• Perform PM on motors and motor control circuits, including meggering and PdMA.
• Carry out monthly and quarterly PM for critical electrical system batteries, including refilling, cleaning, tightening, charging, and load testing.
• Conduct regular fire alarm proof testing, record results, and report findings.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in an electrical technician role, preferably within a refinery or similar industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and installation tasks.
• Proficiency in electrical switching, isolation, and re-energization procedures.

Work Environment

This role is based in Yanbu and operates on a contract basis within the SAMREF Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Ltd. facilities.
