GENERAL PRACTITIONER

About the Role

The Royal Commission Medical Center Yanbu is seeking a General Practitioner to provide comprehensive medical care to both inpatients and outpatients. This full-time position is based in Yanbu and involves working under the direction of Consultants, Senior Registrars, and Registrars, participating in a range of clinical and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour medical care to inpatients, including in-house on-call duties.
• Assist with patient admission procedures to ICU or general wards.
• Perform initial work-up and evaluation for admitted patients.
• Follow up on patients during their hospital stay and plan management under the supervision of the most responsible physician (MRP).
• Conduct daily rounds on inpatients and make management decisions in consultation with MRP and sub-specialty services.
• Develop and implement discharge plans for patients, in consultation with MRP.
• Dictate Discharge Summaries.
• Provide on-call coverage for inpatient services on a rotational basis (approximately once every 4 days), requiring hospital presence for patient evaluations upon nurses' requests.
• Obtain assistance from other specialists or sub-specialists as needed, particularly in life-threatening situations.
• Perform procedures as indicated and approved by the Credentials Committee.
• Provide escort services for patients transferred to other hospitals.
• Attend and participate in periodical staff meetings for the service.
• Provide services to the outpatient clinic and follow up with certain discharged patients.
• Ensure proper documentation of patient history, physical examinations, and daily progress notes according to policy and procedure.
• Communicate regularly with patients during shifts and upon patient request.
• Respond immediately to Emergency Room requests for patient examinations.
• Participate in patient education based on identified learning needs, evaluate effectiveness, and include family in teaching as appropriate.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
• Interact professionally with patients/families and involve them in the formation of the plan of care.
• Clinical privileges will be granted based on training, education, experience, and demonstrated competence.

Surgical Department Specific Duties

• Pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients.
• Assistance in surgeries.
• Post-operative care of patients.

General Duties

• Fulfill roles according to Department privilege, as attached and approved by the head of department.
• Develop and promote appropriate standards of care.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Saudi Nationality.
• Academic grade of "Good" and above.
• Valid SCFHS classification and registration.
• University certificates equalization (if the certificate is from a non-Saudi institution).

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized medical school, plus a one-year internship.
