About the Role

The Royal Commission Medical Center Yanbu is seeking a Staff Nurse for the ER & Trauma Center Unit. This full-time role is based in Yanbu and involves providing direct, individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific nursing principles. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with organizational policies and actively participate in continuous education and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles.
  • Collect patient symptoms and history, then consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Perform triage, considering both physical and psychosocial elements.
  • Manage basic life support needs and stabilize patients until the attending physician is available.
  • Initiate corrective action based on adverse symptomatology from monitoring equipment.
  • Perform focused and head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for various patient populations.
  • Monitor hemodynamic status, interpret results, and identify cardiac arrhythmias, intervening with ACLS algorithms and physician orders.
  • Maintain accurate and continuous nursing documentation, including patient history, condition, vital signs, treatment, and response to intervention.
  • Administer and record prescribed medications, clean and bandage wounds, and maintain proper supplies and medical equipment.
  • Initiate patient education plans, teach patients and families about post-treatment home care, and provide referrals for follow-up.
  • Assist physicians during exams, diagnostic testing, treatments, and procedures such as suturing, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, central line placement, and intubation.
  • Supervise and provide learning opportunities for nursing students, EMT students, and high school medtech students.
  • Provide clinical leadership, promote evidence-based practice, and act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
  • Undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Head Nurse / Charge Nurse.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote organizational values, mission, ethics, customer service, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organizational policies, taking action to correct non-compliance.
  • Attend and actively participate in assigned committee meetings and department meetings (75% attendance required).
  • Assist in data collection for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain ongoing continuous education and complete annual RCMC competencies.
  • Adhere to the RCMC dress code and maintain organizational confidentiality.
  • Report any negative, abnormal, or unexpected events/incidents via the Electronic Occurrence Variance Report (EOVR).

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia identification, and ACLS algorithms.
  • Ability to perform focused and head-to-toe assessments across pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
  • Strong understanding of Trans-cultural principles in nursing care.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position located in Yanbu. The role requires maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with physicians and staff, and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Additional Duties

  • Assist with the orientation of new employees to the department.
  • Participate in training processes for trainees within the Saudi Emergency Nursing Diploma Programs.
  • Float among various clinics and/or units as required.
