About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Medina is seeking an Assistant Consultant, Pediatric Critical Care. This full-time position is for a medical professional with 2-5 years of experience, responsible for assisting in the provision of medical care within the Pediatric Critical Care field. The role also involves supervising interns and residents, operating in strict accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and the Hospital’s policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

The Assistant Consultant plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care and management in Pediatric Critical Care. This includes providing high-quality care across all aspects of the specialty, consistent with approved clinical privileges and the medical care standards established by the Hospital.

Key Duties

  • Assist the Consultant in providing required patient care and management in Pediatric Critical Care, adhering to the Hospital’s standards of medical care.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in all aspects of Pediatric Critical Care according to approved clinical privileges.
  • Provide consultations for inpatients and emergency room cases upon request, ensuring timely responses within prescribed timeframes outlined in Hospital policy.
  • Ensure the timely completion, accuracy, and legibility of medical records.
  • Provide on-call service, ensuring availability and response within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with Hospital policy.
  • Conduct daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge and ensure discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
  • Perform other clinical responsibilities related to the specialty as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Graduation from a medical school in good standing.
  • Completion of the required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty.
  • Possession of Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent qualification as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.

Professional Development and Education

The Assistant Consultant is expected to actively participate in the department’s educational activities and training programs. This includes providing orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned. Maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge through continuing education requirements and participation in national and international medical conferences is also a key aspect of this role.
