Role Summary

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving drinks according to established recipes and standards. This full-time role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, managing inventory, and ensuring all guest interactions align with The Ritz-Carlton's "Gold Standards." The position requires adherence to company policies and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare drink orders for guests following specified recipes and using precise measuring systems.
  • Issue, open, and serve wine and champagne bottles.
  • Set up and maintain the cleanliness and condition of the bar, bar unit, tables, and tools.
  • Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks.
  • Stock ice, glassware, and paper supplies, and transport supplies to the bar setup area.
  • Wash soiled glassware and remove soiled wares from bar tops and tables to designated areas.
  • Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs for bar supplies.
  • Process all payment methods accurately.
  • Count the bank at the end of the shift, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure the bank.
  • Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
  • Complete all designated closing duties.

Operational Duties and Standards

  • Adhere to all company, safety, and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions; and complete required safety training.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, and express genuine appreciation.
  • Communicate with colleagues using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships, support team goals, and respond appropriately to employee concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read and visually verify information in various formats.
  • Capability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or an entire shift.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Proficiency in grasping, turning, and manipulating objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces, and over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, including stairs and ramps.
  • Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred.
  • No supervisory experience is required for this role.
