Cath Lab Technician

About the Role

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Cath Lab Technician for a full-time position. This role involves active participation in clinical work within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL), contributing to both diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventional techniques. The technician will also be responsible for introducing new skills and providing training to other staff members.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in patient transfer to and from the operating table.
• Prepare invasive lines and ensure all vital signs are connected.
• Analyze Hemodynamic studies for adult and pediatric cases.
• Contribute to the inventory management of high-cost items.
• Track and document all implants used during procedures.
• Oversee quality assurance procedures, including radiation protection and quality control of cine film and laser copy processing.
• Participate in the departmental research program and be supported in writing and publishing scientific papers using departmental material.
• Actively engage in digital catheterization work undertaken by the department.
• Take part in all clinical diagnostic and interventional procedures within the CCL, adhering to agreed policies and procedures.
• Maintain quality assurance standards and stay updated on developments and techniques in Cardiology Radiology.
• Ensure patient and staff protection from unnecessary radiation hazards.
• Participate in the departmental rota, which may include single-hand-on-call night shifts.
• Introduce new skills and provide training to other staff as required.
• Provide patient and family education based on needs.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in a Cath Lab setting. A strong understanding of cardiac catheterization procedures, both diagnostic and interventional, is essential.

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficiency in preparing invasive lines and monitoring vital signs.
• Ability to analyze Hemodynamic studies for adult and pediatric cases.
• Knowledge of inventory management for high-cost medical items and implant tracking.
• Understanding of quality assurance procedures, including radiation protection and imaging processing.
• Familiarity with digital catheterization work.
• Strong communication skills for patient and family education.
• Commitment to person-centered care and patient experience.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The role requires participation in a departmental rota, which may include working single-hand-on-call at night.
