Greenhouse Gas Management and Decarbonization Specialist

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Greenhouse Gas Management and Decarbonization Specialist to join the GHG Emissions Management Division (GEMD) within the Green Energy and Environmental Policy Department. This full-time role involves providing consultations to support company strategies and policies related to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and climate aspects. The specialist will oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate GHG protocol and lead initiatives in GHG reduction and climate change solutions.

Role Context and Impact

The GHG Emissions Management Division (GEMD) is responsible for maintaining the Corporate GHG emissions inventory, ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and tracking of emissions from company operations. This supports Saudi Aramco’s sustainability reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, informs public reporting, and facilitates participation in mandatory and voluntary GHG programs. GEMD leads the company's decarbonization efforts, aiming to achieve GHG reduction targets and a net-zero GHG emissions footprint by 2050 across wholly-owned operated assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-level consultations to support company strategies and policies in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) management and decarbonization.
• Oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate GHG protocol.
• Lead new technologies and research initiatives in GHG emissions reduction, including methane.
• Support facility operations in GHG minimization efforts and assess new environmental technologies for Saudi Aramco applications.
• Update Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures, and lead environmental audits.
• Review project designs and decarbonization impact assessments studies and roadmaps.
• Work on the corporate Methane Program to enhance company methane performance.
• Conduct Product Carbon Footprint assessments for company products and support related activities.
• Develop business goals and identify GHG reduction opportunities.
• Evaluate climate change GHG emissions pathways and energy outlooks.
• Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity and develop innovative technical solutions.
• Interact with government and international entities regarding climate change reporting mechanisms.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Greenhouse Gas management and decarbonization is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing GHG protocols.
• Experience with new technologies and research initiatives in GHG reduction.
• Ability to support the professional development of young engineers in environmental assessment, management, and technologies.

The role includes supporting the professional development of young Saudi engineers in areas related to environmental assessment, management, and technologies, contributing to the growth of expertise within the company.
