About the HTML/CSS Quality Assurance Lead Role

This is an hourly, remote contractor position for an HTML/CSS Quality Assurance Lead. The role involves overseeing quality, consistency, and trainer performance across HTML/CSS AI training projects for a fast-growing AI Data Services company. Your expertise will ensure frontend training data is accurate, accessible, responsive, clearly explained, and meets client expectations. Qualified candidates will be contacted for future relevant opportunities within our expert network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct spot-checks on HTML/CSS items, identify quality issues, provide feedback, and escalate critical or recurring problems.
  • Evaluate AI-generated HTML/CSS snippets, layout implementations, accessibility fixes, responsive design solutions, debugging responses, and explanations for accuracy and clarity.
  • Communicate guideline changes, workflow updates, and HTML/CSS review standards to contributors via Discord.
  • Address questions related to semantic HTML, accessibility, ARIA, CSS specificity, layout behavior, flexbox/grid, responsive design, browser compatibility, and rubric interpretation.
  • Engage inactive contributors, encourage participation, track follow-ups, and report availability issues.
  • Develop and maintain HTML/CSS style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
  • Lead onboarding and training sessions for HTML/CSS contributors.
  • Flag frontend recommendations that are inaccessible, misleading, invalid, brittle, or not production-ready.
  • Identify recurring quality gaps and develop scalable QA processes.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, UX/UI, Information Technology, or equivalent professional frontend development experience.
  • Proficiency in English for following guidelines, team communication, and providing clear technical feedback.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in HTML/CSS, frontend development, web accessibility, responsive design, UI implementation, code review, QA, or technical mentoring.
  • Strong understanding of semantic HTML, forms, tables, ARIA basics, accessibility, CSS selectors, cascade/specificity, box model, flexbox, grid, positioning, responsive layouts, media queries, animations, and modern CSS features.
  • Ability to evaluate HTML/CSS content against detailed rubrics and identify issues such as invalid markup, inaccessible components, poor responsiveness, layout bugs, overcomplicated CSS, specificity problems, browser compatibility issues, or incomplete explanations.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with tools and workflows including browser DevTools, Lighthouse, WCAG basics, Sass, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, CSS modules, design systems, Figma handoff, GitHub, CI/CD, and frontend build tools.
  • Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, frontend engineers, designers, coding mentors, or QAs.
  • Experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, frontend code QA, accessibility review, or rubric-based code review.

Work Environment and Tools

This is a remote, contract role. Candidates should be comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using platforms such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, GitHub, and project management systems. Strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining documentation and materials.

Selection Process

The selection process includes an AI interview, a domain-specific task, and an interview with a recruiter. There is no immediate project assigned to this role; however, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future relevant opportunities.
