Role Overview
The IT Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and security of all computer networks and systems within The Ritz-Carlton. This full-time role involves a range of technical tasks from installation and maintenance to user support and problem resolution, all while upholding the company's "Gold Standards" for service and operational excellence. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, manage, maintain, test, evaluate, and repair computer networks, workstations, server systems, and associated hardware/software.
- Provide training and instruction to users on proper system usage and security protocols.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and resolve technical problems related to computer hardware, software, LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity.
- Respond to program error messages and provide network communications support and technical guidance.
- Refer major technical problems to external vendors or specialized technicians as needed.
- Analyze, recommend, and implement process improvements for IT operations.
- Consult with colleagues to assess, analyze, and resolve computing needs and system requirements.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose computer equipment and systems.
- Plan and coordinate IT-related equipment installations, moves, additions, changes, and system enhancements.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
- Provide end-user support for all applications.
- Plan and manage disk space across the entire network.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all technological devices.
- Operate computers and equipment by entering commands and activating controls.
- Ensure backup tapes are securely stored in a fireproof safe.
General Responsibilities and Expectations
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and report accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to management.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Address guest service needs and assist other employees as required.
- Communicate professionally and clearly, including answering telephones with appropriate etiquette.
- Serve as a role model and initial point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support team goals.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to enhance organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-savings.
- Perform physical tasks including moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Utilize computers and Point of Sale (POS) systems for information entry and retrieval.
- Navigate stairs and ramps as part of daily duties.
- Execute other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in an IT specialist or similar technical support role.
- Demonstrated ability to install, configure, and maintain computer networks and systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Strong understanding of network security measures and data protection practices.
- Ability to provide effective end-user support and technical guidance.
Working Environment
This is a full-time position within a dynamic hospitality environment. The role requires adherence to established company policies and procedures, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and protecting company assets. The IT Specialist will work collaboratively within a team, contributing to common goals and upholding the high standards of The Ritz-Carlton.
