About the Opportunity

Wood (KSA) is seeking a Lead Construction & Pre-Commissioning professional to join its Projects business. This full-time position is critical for the successful development of a new gold mine and processing facility.

Role Context and Location

This role is integral to a significant industrial project located at a remote site in Saudi Arabia. The Lead Construction & Pre-Commissioning professional will oversee the construction phase and ensure the facility's readiness for operational startup, specifically for a new gold mine and processing plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review construction execution plans, construction schedules, and method statements.
  • Maintain an on-site presence to monitor construction progress, contractor performance, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support in resolving technical queries, managing field changes, and updating as-built documentation.
  • Manage interfaces among multiple contractors and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee mechanical completion, punch-list closure, and provide support during commissioning and pre-startup phases.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Typically qualified to ISCED Level 6 (Bachelor's Degree) in engineering or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Appropriate level of construction experience in the relevant industry sector.
  • Minimum of 7 years of practical experience if degree qualified, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant practical experience if trade discipline qualified.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes.
  • Ability to identify risks to delivery and to build in and implement mitigation/contingency plans.
  • Expert level of experience in interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS), and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS).
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of technical specifications.
  • Understanding of business drivers within customer organizations and ability to influence these through innovative designs and cost-effective solutions.
  • Experienced in supervising and managing others, capable of effectively delegating work, motivating teams, and managing performance.
